Bunny Trail is an outdoor game. Like any outdoor adventure, staying safe is part of the fun.
In an Emergency
Call your local emergency number immediately if anyone is injured (112 in Europe, 911 in the US/Canada, 000 in Australia, 999 in the UK). Most smartphones route 112 or 911 to local services regardless of country.
Stop playing and attend to the person in need.
Note your GPS coordinates from the app to help emergency responders find you.
Report any unsafe trail conditions or egg locations to the trail organizer or to us at safety@bunny-trail.net.
For Players
Eyes up, phone down. Look at your surroundings while walking. Only check your phone when you're standing still in a safe spot. The egg isn't going anywhere.
Stay in safe, public areas. Don't enter private property, construction zones, or anywhere that feels sketchy. If a spot doesn't look right, skip it.
Play during daylight. Outdoor treasure hunts are best in daylight hours when visibility is good and paths are clear.
Tell someone where you're going. Let a friend, parent, or family member know your plans and expected return time.
Watch your step. Be aware of curbs, stairs, tree roots, uneven ground, puddles, and obstacles. Wear proper shoes for the terrain.
Stay hydrated and weather-ready. Bring water, wear sunscreen, and dress for the conditions. Take breaks if you need them.
Be wildlife aware. If you see lizards active outdoors, so are snakes. Watch where you step and where you put your hands. Give wildlife space — you're visiting their home.
Leave no trace. Take nothing but photos, leave nothing but footprints. Pick up any litter you see — even if it's not yours. The trail should look better when you leave than when you arrived.
Never play while driving or cycling. Pull over completely if you need to check the app. No egg is worth a traffic accident.
Don't trespass. Respect "No Entry" signs, fences, and private property boundaries. If an egg seems to be on private land, report it to the trail organizer.
Don't play alone if you're a minor. Children under 13 must be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times. Teens should play with a buddy.
For Parents & Guardians
Accompany children under 13. Bunny Trail uses GPS and requires outdoor movement. Young children must have an adult present.
Preview the trail route. Check the trail area before your child plays. Make sure the terrain and neighborhood are appropriate.
Set boundaries. Agree on a play area, time limit, and check-in plan before the hunt starts. Consider playing together.
Ensure the phone is charged and that your child knows how to call you or emergency services.
Place eggs in safe, accessible locations only. Public parks, sidewalks, and open areas. Never near roads, cliffs, water hazards, or construction sites.
Walk the route yourself first. Before going live, physically visit every egg location. Check for hazards, accessibility issues, and trespassing risks.
Consider all players. Children, elderly, and people with mobility limitations may participate. Choose terrain that is inclusive.
Share these safety rules with all participants before the hunt. Print this page and distribute it at the start line.
You are responsible for trail safety. As the organizer, you're responsible for ensuring egg locations are safe and legal. See our Terms of Service for details.
These rules are adapted from safety guidelines used by Niantic (Pokemon Go), the Geocaching community, and outdoor recreation best practices.
